The Comfortaire® Advantage:
Original air mattress designs utilized air chambers as support modules (much like a spring unit) deep inside the mattress. However, the advent of our new low profile TPU(urethane alloy) air cores and box top designs have allowed us to maximize the benefits of air by placing it at the top of the mattress where it can gently form to each unique body shape. Our unique, support comes from premium Omalon® support pads below, and the air above simply follows spine alignment, while the top mattress cover supplies premium comfort.
Original air bed designs used thicker air chambers that required a perimeter support of stiffer foam to create an edge for the bed that you could sit on. Our new low-profile chamber allows us to extend the air chamber all the way to the edge of the bed for a full measure of comfort.

30 years ago we introduced our Original Technology™ air mattress design.  It utilized deep filled latex cotton air chambers as support modules (much like a spring unit) at the base of the mattress.  We still use this design today.  But Comfortaire didn’t stop there.  Comfortaire innovated and patented a new air supported mattress design leading to the creation of our Modern Air Bed Technology™.  Comfortaire Box-Top Air™ with Edge-to-Edge Air™ designs utilize a state of the art low profile urethane alloy air chamber that is positioned at the surface of the mattress.  This design allows the air to properly position your body while minimizing the “roll to the middle” feeling and eliminating the “Hammocking Effect” that some consumers report when sleeping on industry standard designs and materials.  The Edge-to-Edge Air™ means your mattress is adjustable all the way to the edge of the mattress…instead of losing up to 12% of the adjustability of your sleeping surface because the chamber sits inside a foam encasement which is not adjustable.
