Q:What type surge protector should I use for my sleep # bed?
A:For pumps made by Comfortaire, A regular power strip with surge suppressor is sufficient. Of course, the power strip should be rated at least at the pump's unit ratings (3.15 A fuse). It would be advisable to have higher rated power strips (i.e. 10A) especially if there will be other devices connected to the same strip. If you have a Sleep Number bed, you would need to contact them for specifications related to their pump and a surge protector.
Comments:
Q:Are these availble in FULL size?
A:Yes, many of our models are offer in FULL size (54x75)
Comments:
Q:Is there anyway to order a air control pump separate? and how much are they
A:Yes, you can purchase the air control pump. We have different models. Please call 800-759-0594 for our parts customer service and they will help you.
Comments:
Q:Is it possible to have the bed delivered and set-up for an additional fee?
A:Yes, we offer the in-home set-up service. The cost for that service varies depending on what part of the country you live. Call for pricing.
Comments:
Q:what are the dimensions of a standard california king?
A:California King size measures 72 inches wide by 84 inches long. A standard king size measures 76 wide by 80 long.
Comments:
Q:What are the differences between the Whisperflo 4200 and 5200? Thank you.
A:The pump model WF4200 operates by changing the pressure while you hold the button, then displaying pressure number (as a percentage) when you take your finger off the button. The WF5200 pump operates in exact PSI - pounds force per square inch. The WF5200 can be dialed to a specific PSI number (.10 to .75), then the pump reacts and changes pressure to match the number selected. The WF5200 also has dual diaphragms for fast inflation and redundant sealing to prevent leaking.
Comments:
Q:Do any of your beds have the option of being able to elevate the head?
A:Adjustable bases have motors for lifting and lowering the head and feet of a mattress. Yes, all of our mattresses are compatible with these adjustable bases ... and we also sell adjustable bases on our website. The mattress and adjustable base are priced separately. Please call us for more details.
Comments:
Q:We have what is basically a platform bed with side panels. Do we need both a top and bottom mattress? Right now we do not need box springs or any other support for the top mattress becasuye we have a solid frame to place the top mattress on and having a bottom and top mattress would not work for our expensive frame. thank you
A:If you have a solid, flat surface to lay the mattress you do not need to get a foundation(boxspring). The mattress functions perfectly when placed on a flat surface. As an example, the mattress would function correctly if placed directly on the floor - since the floor is flat and level.
Comments:
Q:In June we ordered the Silver Edition (Mattress Size: King (76" X 80")) bed. At full setting of .75 the bed seems too soft. What can we do to make it firmer?
A:The pump reads actual PSI. First make sure you are off the bed when you press full. Your body weight on the bed will cause it to shut off too soon because it will reach the maximum PSI early. AFTER it is full, then lie down on the bed (this is the firmest feel) and adjust it from that point. You can't hardly tell any difference until below .50. Most people sleep in the range of 20's and 30's. Also, don't mistake a backache for "not enough support" -- most common mistake that causes back ache is having the bed TOO FIRM.
Comments:
Q:I have 2 special box springs for my current bed, ? is your warranty still covered as stated 4/20 with no concerns if i order mattress only from you?
A:The warranty for our mattress is not linked to the purchase of a new foundation from us. The only concern that you, the consumer, should have is whether your existing structure is flat, level, and supportive. Box springs can sag over time and this will be felt through the mattress too. Additionally, newer foundations meet a higher standard for fire retardancy than do older models. That part really depends on the age of what you have.
Comments:
Q:Could you send me the fire rating and general specs for the twin comfortaire? I want to buy one for my daughter for school and the School would like to know the fire rating, etc.
A:All of our mattresses are compliant with the Federal 1633 fire code when paired with one of our foundations. As for the general specs, well that depends on which model you are looking at. You can call one of our sleep experts for more details on a specific model.
Comments:
Q:We have a King Bed now. It is set up with traditional twin box springs. Will this work with your king mattresses?
A:Our king mattresses (76x80) will work properly on 2 traditional TXL (38X80) boxsprings. We recommend a level, non-moving surface - you may want to cover your boxsprings with plywood to ensure that they don't sink in.
Comments:
Q:are your materials latex free?
A:We have some beds that are completely latex free. The Bella, Luxor, and Alure are all latex free.
Comments:
Q:can you sit on the side of the bed to say talk on the phone, visit with a grandchild, change shoes
A:Ms Michael, Yes, you can sit on the edge of the bed - same as you would sit on the edge of a traditional mattress.
Comments:
Q:what type of bed or frame is required for your split top mattress?
A:Our split-top mattress (Alure) is designed for use with any adjustable base that is NOT a head-board hugger. The head-board hugger feature should not be used with the Alure.
Comments:
Q:What is available in a split king?
A:Karen, All of our mattresses can be purchased in a split king design.
Comments:
Q:I was wondering if you have problems with mold like the sleep number beds had in the past and if not how does your product not allow mold to grow! I am going to purchase a king air bed but now I am doing my homework to find the right bed for me. I was looking at the sona bed. Do you have any specials coming up on the Sona bed? Any info will help thanks Shawn.
A:Shawn, If you are concerned with mold, we suggest Comfortaire Direct's exclusive series of beds (Bella, Luxor, Alure, Platinum). These beds have air chambers made from urethane which is highly resistant to mold and mildew - similar to material used in hospital beds. These also have our patented edge-to-edge air design which gives you additional benefits in comfort and support. Give us a call and we will be happy to go into more details.
Comments:
Q:Are they worth what you pay for them?
A:Carole, Yes, we believe our air mattresses are worth what you pay for them. Our mattresses have a 20 year warranty on them and since air does not wear out, you really do get 20 years of life from them. Additionally, the air support system gives you head to toe support that contours to the exact shape of your body - thus maximizing your support and comfort. Pair that with the ability to customize your side's softness level to suit your needs while your partner has their side fitting their needs and that is an unbeatable combination.
Comments:
Q:PLEASE EXPLAIN THE DIGITAL REMOTE UPGRADE FOR THE ON-LINE EDITION
A:The digital controls for the Special Edition are not actually "remotes" as they are wired to the pump. These hand controls have digital settings and a memory to save your favorite setting, along with a button for one-touch inflation to "full".
Comments:
Q:Can any of your mattresses be used on a Leggett adjustable base? Is there anything else that needs to be used between the adjustable base and your mattress? Thank you !!
A:All of our air mattresses can be used on adjustable bases. These function great with our air mattresses. There isn't anything that needs to be placed between the mattress and adjustable base. Please call if you have any further questions.
Comments:
Q:Is there a weight limit for any of your beds? Do you recommend a model for someone that weighs 325 lbs?
A:Our mattresses can hold up to 500 lbs per air chamber. We recommend Bella or Luxor for you. These models maximize a persons support due to the design of the mattress in relation to the base support foam and the lower profile air chambers. The base support works to prevent hammocking deep into the mattress - resulting in better support while still allowing adjustable firmness.
Comments:
Q:do you have bed like the SleepNumber "m7"
A:Rex, Comfortaire Direct does not sell Sleep Number beds - we are a different company. Based on what you have looked at, we believe you would like our IMPERIAL mattress. It has the gel-infused topper foam that is very nice. Give us a call and we can discuss more details about this mattress.
Comments:
Q:do the shipshape adjustable base models looks as thought they have a full height box spring or does the lifter just look like it has only the 1 mattress you have on it
A:Chuck, The Ship Shape adjustable base is about 15" off the floor. Add the mattress thickness to that height for the overall height of the set. For most people it is slightly higher than older bed designs - but this really depends on what type bed you are comparing it to.
Comments:
Q:Do you make a mattress which will work with a craftmatic adjustable bed?
A:Jodi, Our mattresses with air-adjustable firmness will work with any brand of adjustable base of the same size. Please give us a call if you have further questions.
Comments:
Q:what is the confortaire cerulean?
A:The Cerulean is an older style that is no longer manufactured. Though it has upgraded features, the Sona would be our closest model to that bed. The Sona has the more modern euro-top design and has upgraded foam and pump features. It is our most popular mattress.
Comments:
Q:I am interested in your bed but when I asked somebody who had a sleep number bed they told me they had to get rid of it after only 3 years because they discovered mold growing inside the bed. Have you had any issues with that? Thanks, Donna
A:Donna, Sounds like you would love our Exclusive series beds. The urethane air chambers are highly resistant to mold and mildew ... and you have the added luxury of the edge-to-edge air chambers. Call one of our representatives to get more details.
Comments:
Q:Think I like the Comfort plus. I have an antique bed and would like to use that...can that be done?
A:The Comfort Plus mattress can be used where any standard mattress can be used. Antique beds can have different dimensions than standard beds today. We recommend that you measure your current mattress to see what size you need to order - and compare that against current mattress dimensions.
Comments:
Q:Do you have twin sizes? Do I need a special bed frame or would my twin frame work?
A:Yes, most of our beds come in twin size. Our air mattresses do not need a special frame, they will fit on any standard bed frame.
Comments:
Q:Can I get the leggett premium base in a split king ?
A:Yes, the Leggett & Platt comes in a split king. King size adj bases are always in the split design - otherwise, they could not fit through any doorway. You will need to make sure you get a split king mattress if you want to sit up or lie down separate from your sleep partner.
Comments:
Q:We currently have Select Comfort CA Kings, Looking to replace. Comfortaire sounds good. We just need to replace the top matress. Is this possible
A:Yes, you can definitely replace just the mattress (and use your existing foundation if it is in good condition). This does not affect the warranty.
Comments:
Q:I was wondering what the difference between comfort air and select comfort is?
A:Comfortaire is a 3rd generation family owned company. We sell mattresses that have air-adjustable firmness and have dual technology (each person has their firmness on his side of the bed). Though some very basic principles are similar, Comfortaire has advanced air technology with our exclusive edge-to-edge air design that is not available from any other manufacturer. For more details, contact one of our sales associates at .

Q:I have fibromyalgia and RA. Which bed would you recommend for me. We have a pillowtop spring mattress right now and it is killing my body. Help
A:Because of the adjustable firmness feature of our air beds, all of them may be an improvement over a spring mattress. The best suggestion would be the Alure mattress. It is the softest design in materials.
Comments:
Q:If you have a bed frame with support slats such as an under the bed storage frames do you need a foundation under the comfort plus mattress
A:Hi Trent, No, you would not need to purchase a foundation if you have a platform style bed frame. The mattress is going to perform its best when it is on a solid, flat surface. It will not affect the warranty on the mattress if you do not purchase the foundation that we sell.
Comments:
Q:wondering if you use standard flame retardant on your mattresses?
A:Yes, we use a flame retardant barrier in our mattresses. Our barrier is not a sprayed on chemical application, but rather it is a flame retarding material that is layered in the quilting process.

Comments:
Q:what is a Split Head Queen Bed? Can head and feet adjustable?
A:The Split-Head Queen bed is made as one mattress but it is split halfway at the head section. Foot section is still one piece, but head section is independent - you can sit up while your husband lies down, and it is still one mattress. Give us a call and we can give you more details about this design.
Comments:
Q:Can I use my current Queen frame with a Comfortaire bed?
A:Yes, Comfortaire mattresses will work in your current queen frame. You do need a foundation with the mattress - or a platform base. Anything that is a level, flat surface for the mattress to sit on.

Q:I would like to know which of the mattresses provides the coolest material. I am not considering the memory foam mattresses.
A:The Opulence or the Bella would be the coolest feeling mattresses that we offer. Opulence has the Outlast technology to help with temperature balancing and the synthetic latex foam is cooler also. The Bella has bamboo which is a cool material and it has the same synthetic latex foam for coolness.
Comments:
Q:will a comfortaire matters work on a captians bed where you dont need a box spring
A:Yes, our mattress works on a captain's bed. The air hose needs to extend to the floor and connect to the pump (at the head of the bed. Depending on how your bed is designed, the hose may be threaded through the area between the headboard. if there is no space here, you may need to cut a hole for the hose to go through to the floor.
Comments:
Q:What series and model is the RV mattress based on?
A:Our RV mattress would fall in the Preferred series of beds.
Comments:
Q:The bed in our RV is a normal queen size. Is there a reason why we should buy the RV mattress instead of one of the other models?
A:If your mattress is a normal queen size 60x80, then you can purchase any of our mattresses in a queen size. Be sure you compare the thickness of the mattress to the area that you intend to put it - just to make sure it will fit.
Comments:
Q:We have two cats that spend time the bed. Is it possible for a cat to puncture the air chamber with their claws?
A:It is impossible for your cat to puncture the air chamber with its claws. The air chambers are covered with a layer of foam about 2.5 inches thick and then there is the quilted cover on top of that.
Comments:
Q:How deep (thick) is the foundation?
A:Our folding foundation is 9 inches thick.
Comments:

A:The foam layer can be replaced. Call our service line at 800-759-0594 and they will assist you with that.
Comments:
Q:Is it possible to use a Comfortaire system with a kin size captains bed?
A:Yes, you can use our mattress on a captains bed. Usually there is a space at the headboard where you can thread the air hoses through to the floor area where the pump will be placed. If there is not a space at the headboard, you may need to cut a hole for the hoses to reach the floor.
Comments:
Q:I was looking at this matterss: GS.900 Adjustable King Mattress I was unable to find that model on this website. Can you tell me what series and model name the GS 900 is. thank you
A:The Luxor mattress is the most similar to the GS900. The design and the topper foam (memory topper) are the same but the quilted cover is different.
Comments:
Q:Is there anywhere I can go to test a mattress without going through the free trial? An interested buyer in Raleigh, NC.
A:Comfortaire Direct is factory direct sales - which is why we offer the 60-day in-home trial. Sleeping on the mattress is the best test if it works for you. Considering the mattress has adjustable firmness, you can make the bed as soft or firm as you want it to be -- unlike traditional beds that you have to lie down on to test the firmness or softness.
Comments:
Q:How much does the mattress and the foundation weigh? What is the size and the weight of the shipping carton(s)?
A:Weight depends on what mattress and what size you choose. As an example, the Sona Queen weighs 80# and the queen foundation weighs 64#. All mattress boxes are same dimensions - 43x19x24. Sona queen size would have 2 boxes shipping via Fedex. The queen foundation is a folding design, 6x46x61 dimensions
Comments:
Q:Do all series Patented Design Box-Top Air or just Exclsive series?
A:The Exclusive series beds (Bella, Luxor, Alure, & Platinum) are the only ones with the patented edge-to-edge air design. All other beds have the original air design.
Comments:
Q:Is it possible to get a king mattress with only one air chamber, instead of two?
A:No, it is not possible to get king size with a single chamber. All king sizes have dual air chambers - and there is no option for single chamber.
Comments:
Q:I am looking for a Full Size Mattress, single air chamber, do you make this size and if so what is the cost?
A:Many of our mattresses come in full size (54x75) and are available in single chamber. The cost would depend on which mattress you choose.
Comments:
Q:Why are comfortaire.com and comfortairedirect different beds and prices?
A:The beds have different features - for example: different quilted covers, different topper foams, different pumps. The beds found on Comfortaire.com can only be purchased through a local retail store. The beds on Comfortairedirect.com are purchased online only, factory direct. With different features, the beds also have different names. With the vast combination of options, each person can pick a mattress that is best tailored to their specific needs.
Comments:
Q:Can I come to your place of business to check out your product and possibly make a purchase there?
A:We are online only - we do not own any stores. This is why we have a 60-day in-home trial period so that you can test the mattress in your home.
Comments:
Q:do you or can you make an adjustable king size bed with 220 volts? I am moving to India and would like to have comfortaire bed. Also, is it very hard to put together?
A:We can order a plug for our pump that will work for 220 volts. There is no additional cost for this cord.
Comments:
Q:I currently have a memory foam bed and I love the comfort it affords but HATE the heat that it generates/traps/retains. If I purchase a Comfortaire bed will the interior layer of memory foam cause the same results of "sleeping hot?" I cannot afford to make another expensive mattress mistake.
A:While memory foam does retain heat, the amount of foam and the density also factor in how much heat is retained. Most of our beds have a small layer of convoluted memory foam and it is not as dense as a bed that has only memory foam. This means that you should not have the same amount of heat retention in our bed. Additionally, you will have 60 days to try it out in your home - and you can return it for a full refund if you are not satisfied.
Comments:
Q:I have arthritis in my tail bone and spend alot of time sitting in and on my bed which mattress would you recommend and would it fit the adjustable base?
A:We recommend the Alure for both your arthritis and for use with the adjustable base. The memory foam inside this bed adds the extra contouring that may help ease the pressure and pain from the arthritis.
Comments:
Q:I have a split king adjustable mattress. can I replace it with the nonsplit mattress?
A:If you have split-king adjustable bases that raise/lower head/feet - then yes, you can use one mattress on top of the 2 bases. You would need to program the bases so that they are synchronized to raise and lower simultaneously.
Comments:
Q:what are the rubber plugs for?
A:These are provided for you in case you ever need/want to plug the hose. If you ever had a pump problem, you can disconnect the hoses and plug them to keep them inflated.
Comments:
Q:I have found that memory foam wears out over time and gets a divot where I lay. I understand the foam layer in your bed can be replaced. How much do these parts typically cost? Is there any warranty on these sorts of parts? How long does the memory foam layer typically last?
A:Yes, any foam can and will compress over time. We find that our foams last very well because of the air support under them. Air support contours to the exact shape of your body, which evens the pressure applied to the foam and does not put extra pressure on any area - thus allowing the foam to wear better and last longer. The foam layer is covered in the warranty and it is replaceable. You can call customer service for approximate cost for replacing the foam layer.
Comments:
Q:Is there a way to turn off the display light on the remote control?
A:The display light will last as long as the bed lasts - but it can't be turned off. If the light bothers you, you may unplug the controller or you could put it under your bed with something obstructing the light.
Comments:
Q:How can I repair a small hole in the top of the air chamber? Original full size about 9 years old.
A:Some have tried a bicycle patch but I don't think any solution will hold for a significant time. Call customer service, it is still in warranty, and get a replacement. The cost is minimal.
Comments:
Q:will these mattresses fit on a platform and still function to its full potential?
A:Yes, a platform is a perfect surface to use our mattresses. They function great on any flat, level surface.
Comments:
Q:If we need to return a king-size mattress at the end of the trial period, how much will it cost us (shipping and/or restocking fees.) Thanks.
A:Right now we are running a promotion where we pay the return shipping costs. There is not a re-stock fee when you send a bed back after the trial period.
Comments:
Q:What is the dual chamber?
A:Dual chamber simply means that the bed has 2 air chambers inside and that each air chamber is individually controlled by the person sleeping on that side of the bed. The bed is still just one mattress and it has dual air chambers inside it.
Comments:
Q:WHEN DELIVERING, DO THEY AT LEAST BRING IT INTO THE HOME AND WHAT WOULD THEY CHARGE TO REMOVE THE OLD MATTRESS?
A:Most shipments are Fedex delivered in individual boxes - where you would assemble the bed yourself at your convenience. If you want the in-home set up that is available - pricing depends on your area but usually approximately $150 average. If you want the haulaway service that is also available for $70 more.
Comments:
Q:we are looking for a split king adjustable bed. do you do both types or just air. we have a beautiful wood bed can this bed be used in it?
A:We have the adjustable base that lifts/lowers the head/foot section as well as air-adjustable mattresses to use on them. Yes, your wood bed can be used with the adjustable bases and mattress - as long as your wood bed is not antique (or odd sized as some antique beds are).
Comments:
Q:Hi, can you tell me the difference between the comfort bed, the comfort plus bed and the optima bed? The only difference I can find in the description is really the price. Thanks!
A:The Comfort and Comfort Plus are the same mattress but the PLUS means it has the upgrade pump with digital controls and memory. The Optima is similar but has better quilting and the digital controls along with the sidewall covers that have velcro corners.
Comments:
Q:Hi. Can a comfortaire mattress be put directly on the floor or in a waterbed frame? thank you
A:Yes, the mattress can be placed directly on the floor and it can also be used in a waterbed frame.
Comments:
Q:Hi. Can you tell me the sleep area for a double queen mattress and a double king mattress? In other words, how much of each side of the mattress in a queen and king are air and how much is the foam?
A:Great questions!! The air space area for a queen bed is 52 inches (for dual each person has 26 inches). The air space area for a king bed is 68 inches (34 inches for each person). The perimeter sidewall foam is 4 inches wide so you simple deduct 8 inches from the width of any mattress and that will give you the air space area. NOTE THAT OUR EXCLUSIVE SERIES HAS AIR ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE MATTRESS - NO PERIMETER FOAM AROUND THE AIR!! Exclusive series would be 60" of air for queen and 76" air for king.

Q:How much effort does it take to set this up? I am interested in purchasing one of your beds (luxor or alure) but intend to move within a few months. How much of a hassle is it to take down, transport and re-assemble? Should I just wait until I move? Please advise. TX.
A:Assembly will take about 45 minutes for the Luxor or Alure. This is relatively easy to do and you can view the assembly instructions on our site. Look at the bottom of the page, the far right side, choose "manuals", then choose the bed. As far as transporting the mattress - you can actually transport it assembled if that is easier for you - or you can disassemble it. As far as waiting to make the purchase .... well that is several months of great sleep that you are missing if you wait!!

Q:which is best and softest bed: Premier, Imperial, Opulence
A:Good day! In my personal opinion the Premier is the softest bed from those you mentioned. Please remember that you have the ability to change the firmness using the air pressure adjustment. The "softness" that I am judging with these beds is the cover and the foam softness.
Comments:
Q:Is the California king not dual chamber?
A:The California King is always dual chamber. We only offer the single chamber option on FULL or QUEEN beds.
Comments:
Q:I live in Columbus, Ohio. Is there somewhere I can see a comfort aire bed?

Q:We have a king size Bella matttress. We want a mattress protector with no extra padding and that will stay on the bed. When we called we did not get a very clear answer. Please tell us what we should purchase. Thank You.
A:You should purchase our regular mattress protector - it fits like a fitted sheet and will work great.
Comments:
Q:I live in Minnesota where the barometer changes frequently. I have heard that due to this, the air in the bladders change with the barometer variations without changing the settings. Is this true? Please advise. Thank you.
A:Yes it is true that barometer fluctuations can change how the bed feels because of the way it affects the air. If you feel that the bed is different or less comfortable, you can press the memory button while you are lying on the bed and this should return it to the same firmness that you like. Whenever you think that the firmess feels different you can activate the memory feature to get back to the "feel" that you like.
Comments:
Q:one of the air mattresses keeps losing air, I am not sure how to troubleshoot to discern where the leak is. Could it be at the pump, the hose or the mattress itself? Any advise would be appreciated. We have had the mattresses for 9 or 10 years and they have been great so we would really like to get this repaired. My husband has to pump the mattress up at least twice a night. Help please. Thanks, Linda
A:Please call our service line at 800-759-0594 and they will be able to help you fix that problem.
Comments:
Q:We are considering the queen-sized Bella or Luxor. Do we have to buy special sheets, or will our current sheets work?
A:No, you do not need "special" sheets but you will need sheets that are deep pocket that will fit 13 or 14 inch mattress.
Comments:
Q:We have Spilit head adjustable bed air mattress that we purchased in 2007. We are looking for the headboard to attach the bed for decoration look.
A:Unfortunately, we do not sell headboards. You may try a local furniture store or look on the internet.
Comments:
Q:We have an Ikea bed-frame with wooden slats for a base support. Would I need to purchase the box spring for best support with the Optima or Comfort Plus series? Or would the wooden slats be sufficient? We both have serious disk issues in our backs
A:If you have wooden slats you will need to get a foundation (boxspring) OR you can use plywood over the slats to create a flat, solid surface.
Comments:
Q:One side of the bed is much lower, although it says 100% full. It has made this bed so uncomfortable I want to throw it out the window. Help please?
A:You likely have a bend or kink in the clear hose which is preventing the air from getting in the chamber. This can happen when making the bed or changing sheets and you may not even realize it. Follow the hose all the way up and inside the quilted cover to check. You can also call our service line at 800-759-0594 for further assistance.
Comments:
Q:do the air hoses go at the top or bottom of the bed? on the top lay of the platinum bed?
A:Air hoses will extend from the head of the bed on all beds.

A:Hi Julie, All of our mattresses are air adjustable, so you can adjust the softness and/or firmness to your liking. Some of our models have memory foam, which will contour to your shape and may help with pressure points. We do not work directly with Medicare or Medicaid.
Comments:
Q:can you take 2 twin size beds and make them into a king size? Or do you make king size number beds?
A:Hi Leslie, You can take two twin XL mattresses, which measure 80 inches long, and make them into a split king mattress. Typically people will purchase a split king design to use on an adjustable bed base, which is the mechanism that raises and lowers the head and feet. While Comfortaire does not make Sleep Number beds, we do sell a king size mattress, which has dual air chambers, so you can adjust the softness and firmness to your liking.
Comments:
Q:What is the density of the memory foam used in the foam layer of the Imperial mattress?
A:Hi Steven, The denisty of the memory foam used in our Imperial mattress is 4.70-5.3 pounds.
Comments:
Q:I have several health problems. Can you tell me if Medicare & Medicaid pay for these kinds of beds? I have both.
A:Our company is not licensed to accept medical reimbursement for the beds. I am aware that customers have worked with their insurance company to get reimbursed for the bed -- but the customer does have to pay us for the mattress and then get the reimbursement from their insurance company.
Comments:
Q:Hello, do I have to call to recieve the discounts on the bed
A:Yes, it is necessary to call to get the discounts.
Comments:
Q:How many zones does your queen size bed have with dual chambers?
A:Our beds do not have "zones" in them. A queen mattress with dual chambers has one air chamber on each side. Each person has their own air chamber to adjust firmness on their side of the bed. The air chambers have baffles horizontally and vertically to keep the air chamber from "popping up" in any certain area --- but these baffles are all connected to each other. You could possibly describe it as you have one zone on your side of the bed and your wife has another zone on her side of the bed.

Q:Which model is most similar to the Verlo Aire 800?
A:Unfortunately, we are not familiar with the models that are sold in retail stores. You may want to call our service line at 800-759-0594 and they should be familiar with ALL models.
Comments:
Q:what is the difference between comfort and optima?
A:The Comfort is our basic entry level mattress. The Optima is similar but more plush quilting and it also has the added velcro corners to lock the perimeter foam in place.
Comments:
Q:Could you please tell me if this kind of air mattress can be placed on a conventional bed frame and / or box spring? I could not find this answer on the website. We have a bed with a footboard and headboard, and not sure how we can make this work.
A:Our mattress can be used in any standard bed frame. A headboard/footboard setup would be perfectly fine. The mattress is normal size and will work anywhere a traditional mattress would work.
Comments:
Q:Do I need a foundation box spring if my bed has wood slats?
A:What you need is a flat, supportive surface. It would not work well if there are gaps between the slats. You could possibly place plywood over the slats to achieve a flat surface ... or use a foundation.
Comments:
Q:my son has anklyosis spondolitis, do you think this be is good for him?
A:This question would best be answered by your son's doctor. This bed has been reported to help many people with back problems and there may be potential to help your son but we recommend you get the advice of your medical care professional.
Comments:
Q:Are replacement mattress "covers" available for sale? A child soiled our guest bed and I would like to replace the outside but use the air bladders.
A:Yes, these are available through our service department at 800-759-0594
Comments:
Q:we have a King bed now and is it possible to use our frame, head and foot board with your products, we are considering the split king that we can raise seperatly on our sides, right now the Optima/shipshape, we both have some what bad backs thank you
A:Yes, you can use your existing headboard/footboard. The adjustable base (Ship Shape) will sit down inside of your frame - it can also stand alone as it has legs on it.
Comments:
Q:im a single woman with joint and back problems i was told to check on the comfortarre cerulean where could i find this matress and is their a retailer in pittsburgh that i could try one
A:We have similar beds to the Cerulean that are sold online. The Sona would be closest to that bed. You can also call our service line at 800-759-0594 to see if there is a local retailer near you. We are online only here at Comfortaire Direct.

A:Wade, please contact our service line at 800-759-0594 and they can help you get this problem resolved as well as check your warranty information. The warranty information will determine if you are under the no cost or prorated option.
Comments:

Comments:
Q:do you sell twin size matresses
A:Yes, we sell twin size in most mattresses. The exclusive series, which is our 4 top of the line beds, does not come in twin size but all the remaining beds do come in twin.
Comments:
Q:There are 2 comfortaire websites, Comfortairedirect.com and Comfortaire.com. are you the same company?
A:Yes, we are the same company. Comfortairedirect.com is our internet direct-to-consumers site. Comfortaire.com is our site showing beds sold to retail stores (who then sell to consumers).
Comments:
Q:My dog chewed thru the cord to the hand remote. can I replace it with a phone cord? or do you have replacement parts?
A:You can replace the cord with a DATA cord found at your local electronics store - it looks like a phone cord but it is actually a little different. We do have replacement parts if you want to get it through us - please call our service line at 800-759-0594 and they can assist you with the parts order.
Comments:
Q:1. Do you have the installation guide for the Imperial yet? It is not posted on the website. 2. If you use the Imperial with an adjustable base, do you need any sort of hose extensions?
A:The Imperial owner's manual can be found on our website - at the bottom of the site near the right, click manuals then choose Imperial. You should not need longer hoses for the adjustable base use - the normal length of hose is 8 feet long.
Comments:
Q:Do you have the split king
A:Yes, we do offer the split king mattress. Ask any sales associate to help you with pricing.
Comments:
Q:We just purchased an alure split top queen mattress and adjustable frame. How do you set up the remotes for the frame to adjust the heads independently and have both of the foot portion move the same with either controller?
A:The adjustable bases that lift and lower the foot and head will all work independently. You cannot have just the foot section synchronized together. It should be fine, just watch that you don't adjust the full distance with the feet - the only problem will be the mattress leaning over --- you should notice it if you feel uncomfortable.
Comments:
Q:I am looking for a bed for a quadraplegic that air flows in and out at intervals. Do you have something like that? It is for pressure soars. Thanks
A:Unfortunately, we do not have the self-adjusting air mattress like you described. You can probably locate this type mattress at a hospital or medical supply place
Comments:
Q:I prefer a memory foam topper for my bed. Which models come with it?
A:Our Premier, Imperial, RV, Luxor, Alure, and Platinum all have memory foam in them.
Comments:
Q:Do you make any exclusive series queen or king sized beds with one air chamber?
A:Unfortunately, the exclusive series does not have a single chamber available for queen or king beds.
Comments:
Q:My bed gets very warm. By morning, I am dripping wet. Any suggestions?
A:We would suggest that you use cotton sheets to help with coolness. Also, consider changing your covering - don't use a comforter over you when you sleep, maybe a cotton blanket with not cover above it. We also recommend using the protector with Outlast to help with dissipating the heat.
Comments:
Q:Is there any kind of filler than can go in the crack on a split king, my husband has ALS, and cant turn himself and gets stuck in the crack
A:We have a foam that you can use in the area between the beds. You would need to remove it when you adjust up or down - it is really best for use when the bed is lying flat.
Comments:
Q:are the pump motors loud or quiet?
A:Our pumps are motor driver and there is some noise associated with the inflation feature. It inflates rapidly but does sound similar to a hair dryer on low.
Comments:
Q:Why do you only have wired remotes instead of wireless remotes? Where do you put the remotes when not in use? Do they hang somewhere out of sight? Do any models have wireless remotes?
A:We only carry wired remotes. Most people hang them over the bedpost, velcro them to back side of headboard, or put them under the bed. Some benefits are: 2 people do not have to share a remote, no replacing batteries, no lost remotes. Pressure changing is a function you work with initially but then you may have years between pressure changes - remotes can get lost in that length of time. We do not have any models with wireless pressure changes. Our bases that lift head/feet have wireless remotes because that is a function you will likely use every day.
Comments:
Q:I am going to attempt and wash the mattress cover. Can this be put in the dryer
A:Never put the cover in the dryer - it could shrink and not fit well. You should allow the cover to air dry.
Comments:
Q:My husband and I are over 300 lbs will the Cofortaire work for us and hold up?
A:Each of our air chambers is tested for up to 500 lbs. Our beds will absolutely work fine for you.
Comments:
Q:I need a full size with no box spring with bed that will raise at the head like a hospital bed.
A:We can certainly help you with this purchase. Most of our mattresses are available in the full size. The premium adjustable base is also available in full size (54x75). Give us a call to get more details.
Comments:
Q:I am a heavy person will your mattresses smash down like a regular one does and can we use the split foundation we already have?
A:Each air chamber will hold up to 500 pounds so they will definitely hold a heavy person without smashing down. You can use a split foundation. Please speak with a customer representative for more details and to discuss "split foundation" to make sure we are speaking about the same part.
Comments:
Q:What is the difference between Dual Chamber and Single Chamber?
A:Dual chambers have 2 air chambers so that each side of the bed is customizable to the person sleeping on that side. Single chamber is better if you sleep alone in the bed. With a single chamber, you set the pressure and it is the same all the way across the bed -- no need to set it on both sides, so it is simpler for those who sleep alone in the bed.
Comments:
Q:Will this mattress support a really large individual (someone over 300 pounds)?
A:Yes, our air chambers are rated for 500 LBS per each air chamber.
Comments:
Q:How do I know which series to purchase. I have chronic back pain, likely arthritic (MRI negative for disc disease)
A:There are many ways to customize our beds to suit your needs. It would be best to call in and discuss your needs with one of our specialists. As a rough guess, the Premier has a small layer of memory foam which is usually preferred for chronic soreness like arthritis.
Comments:
Q:are all the king mattress dual chamber for individual comfort
A:Yes, all king mattress come standard with dual chambers for individual comfort.
Comments:
Q:the choice of foam or latex. What are the pros and cons of each?
A:Latex is springy and feels softer, cooler, easier to rollover in bed. Memory foam is more contouring and holds more heat - good for arthritis or aching body.
Comments:
Q:I am interested in an adjustable split Calif King bed. Is that possible with your beds?
A:Yes, we do make a split Calif King bed.
Comments:

Comments:
Q:Can i get the whole bed and night stand together.I have a very bad back.Would the 54X75 single be right for me?
A:Although we do not sell any furniture items, you can purchase the mattress and foundation (same as boxspring) from us. The 54x75 with single chamber is a great size for people who sleep alone. Many people find that air mattresses provide great support and comfort for aching backs.
Comments:
Q:I have a twin Comfortaire CP330-HP. I have just moved and discovered that the plastic nozzle on the pump has broken off and the piece is stuck in the inflation tube for the mattress. Do you have any suggestions?
A:You have a couple of options. Please call our customer service at 800-759-0594 and they will help you get this back in working order.
Comments:
Q:wondering if the foam top on the p5 is replaceable as it wears down? Is this model my best bet, staying as far away as possible from memory foam? Thanks, Ken
A:The P-5 you referenced is a Sleep Number Model. Comfortaire does not sell Sleep Number beds. We have a bed called Sona and it is one of our most popular beds. I believe it is most similar to what you have mentioned. Sona does not have memory foam ... and yes, the foam layer is replaceable.
Comments:
Q:how is thus bed if you have cats that climb up on the bed?
A:The air chambers are VERY thick and durable. It would be almost impossible for a cat to puncture them. The quilted cover and foam under it make it virtually impossible for a cat to damage them.
Comments:
Q:I would like the adjustable mattress but travel year round in my RV. Can the adjustable bed work in an RV? I do have space for the twin XL but do you have a standard twin? What would be the total cost? Many thanks
A:Our mattresses work great in RV's. If you are referring to the adjustable base which raises and lowers the head/foot then I don't think that would fit in an RV. Yes, we do have a standard twin size mattress in most of our styles
Comments:
Q:Can heaters be purchased for your mattresses?
A:Our air mattresses are warmer than traditional spring beds. If you desire more heat you should choose one that also has a memory foam layer inside it. The memory foam holds the heat more than other foams. There are no specific "heaters" for air mattresses but you could use a heating blanket if necessary. We do not recommend a heating blanket because it can affect the life of the foam layers inside the bed.
Comments:
Q:I have a beatuyrest king mattress for 5 years, it is shot, my back is very sore when i get up now, what do you recommend, i think the pillow top is a bad idea and that is why my beautirest is shot Mark
A:While it is likely true that the pillowtop has flattened and is not a supportive, it is also likely that the spring support underneath has also started to compress exacerbating the depression in your bed causing bad support and your sore back. All of our mattresses will provide you with great contouring support - which one is more a matter of your personal tastes and preferences. Call to speak with one of our representatives forhelp with specific features of each model.

Q:The air pump for my bed has suddenly quit. What do I need to do to get a replacement?
A:You can call the service line at 800-759-0594 and they can get it replaced for you.

Q:I am trying to get some type of information that I can give to my doctor to show that this bed and an adjustable frame would benefit me with my lower back injury. I was told if my doctor prescribed the bed/frame, my insurance company would pay for it for me. I have a serious back/leg injury and cannot get comfortable. Need help.
A:Contact us and we can provide you with some information about the benefits of air mattresses and adjustable bases for you to share with your doctor and insurance company.
Comments:
Q:I have a king size sleigh bed. Will the king size mattress sit on the frame or is it too heavy?
A:Our air mattresses are typically equal to or lighter than traditional type mattresses. Our mattress will definitely fit in your sleigh bed. In fact, our mattresses fit in any type of bed -- there are no restrictions on the bed type.
Comments:
Q:When ordering a bed, does the power base take the place of a base or foundation?
A:Yes, the power base takes the place of the foundation (or boxspring).
Comments:

Comments:
Q:do your bed have heating and cooling
A:Some features of some of our beds will help with temperature balancing but we do not have a specific heating or cooling device.
Comments:
Q:I have a comfortaire air adjustable bed. It is a King Size split bed. I want to get a Queen bed instead. My bed says it is a 3xl Cerenity mattress. The base apparently is a Leggett Premium Base. I am very happy with my bed and I have had it 10 years. What is the name of the mattress I need to get in the Queen size?
A:The closest comparable model would be the Optima.
Comments:
Q: am trying to decide between the Imperial and the Allure based on several factors. I have 2 questions. What is the difference in regular memory foam versus Visco elastic memory foam? What is a Modular foam base? What is Omalon?
A:Regular memory foam and visco elastic memory foam are both the same material. In the Imperial you have a piece of foam that is like a flat slab. In the Alure the foam has a convoluted shape like an egg carton. You can research Omalon as it is a specific brand of foam. The modular base foam is Omalon - it is very supportive and never breaks down.

Q:3 Questions 1. What is the difference in Dual Chamber and Split (specifically for the Queen)? 2. Why the foundation versus traditional box spring that I already own? I know you should periodically replace box springs, but are there other differences? 3. Can the comfort layer come in or out? Thanks, --Matt
A:Dual chamber simply means that there are 2 individual air chambers so that each person can control the firmness on their side. "Split" is available on the Alure and refers to the outside of the mattress which can be ordered split down the middle where the bottom section is still in one piece. The Split design still has dual air chambers in it. Foundation serves the same purpose as boxspring but since it does not contain actual springs it will never break down or sag. The comfort layer of foam is replaceable - it can be found inside the zippered area and is very easy to access.
Comments:
Q:Just ordered a Opulence model Calif King I assume it comes with two air mattress controls for each side of the bed.
A:Yes, California King is always sold as dual air chambers and dual air controls.
Comments:
Q:How do I get a new motor
A:contact our customer service at 800-759-0594 and they can help you with that.
Comments:
Q:Do you sell the extended queen size sheets
A:That is an odd-sized mattress and we do not sell a bed that size, so we do not sell sheets that size.
Comments:
Q:How do I know what number is the right number for me?
A:The right number usually takes about a month to figure out and it will be what you are most comfortable sleeping at. Usually it is very close to the first setting that you choose for your comfort level.
Comments:
Q:Can you use standard queen size sheets on a split queen base?
A:If you have a true split queen base which has 2 bases 30x80 each, you will need sheets that are split queen also. Split queen sheet set will have 2 fitted sheets that fit on 30x80 mattresses.
Comments:
Q:how many air chambers are in each side for a king size mattress?
A:King size mattress has 2 air chambers - one for each side of the bed. Each of these air chambers has baffles inside but they are interconnected inside the air chamber.
Comments:
Q:Which of your beds is closest to the Sleep Number 5000 (i5?)series?
A:Our Sona is the comparable model to the P5 or 5000.
Comments:
Q:DOES THE DUAL CHAMBER MATTRESS HAVE A RIDGE DOWN THE CENTER OF THE BED?
A:No, our beds do not have a ridge in the center. Our air chambers fit tightly against each other and do not have a center divider foam that separates them.
Comments:
Q:what mattress replaced the IC900?

Q:My husband has shoulder, upper and lower back problems. I have back problems. We also want an dual adjustable bed. What do you suggest. Also, can you use this bed with your exsisting frame/ head board and foot board? Thanks, Ellen
A:Yes, you can use the mattress with your existing frame/headboard and footboard. As for the right mattress for you, we would need more details about the specific problems with your back. Please call one of our experts to help determine the right bed for you.
Comments:
Q:Would it be best to get a split-king base or two twin bases? My husband and I are wanting an adjustable base with our king. We both weight around 220lb.
A:King bases always come as 2 twin long bases - this way they are able to fit through any doorway. There is not a king size base that is only one unit. If you want just one mattress on top of the bases, you can do that -- the bases can work individually or can work simultaneously.
Comments:
Q:Can you use a air matress on a adjutable bed?
A:Yes, all of our air mattresses work beautifully with adjustable bases.
Comments:
Q:My husband weighs close to 300 lbs, and I want the best bed for support. which one of these would that be?
A:The Bella would be the best for supporting a heavier stature person.
Comments:
Q:We have a craftomatic king size bed. Will your mattresses work on it?
A:All our mattresses will work with adjustable bases. The Alure split-top only works with an adjustable base that is not a headboard hugger though. That one mattress is the only one with limitations in that area.
Comments:
Q:Can I buy replacement foam sides, top, bottom and center from select comfort full size bed? Thank you
A:If you have a Select Comfort bed, you will need to buy those parts from Select Comfort. We are a different company.
Comments:
Q:Do any of twin size beds have vibrators in them? Thank you.
A:The adjustable bases have the vibrating massage in them. These are sold separately and will work with all of our air mattresses.
Comments:
Q:On the comfortaire.com website there is a mention of a GS series of beds. Which of these means the same on comfortairedirect.com
A:All these beds are manufactured by Comfortaire. The beds available from Comfortaire Direct do have differences which are typically upgrades from the other beds.
Comments:
Q:What are you referring to in your chart under the column that states cover?
A:That component is the quilted part that holds everything together - it is the part you see before you put the sheets on the bed.
Comments:
Q:i would like an exclusive series bed that does not have latex, as I have a mild allergy to latex. The Bella says it has synthetic latex. Would that work for me?
A:Yes, the Bella would be perfect. The air chambers are urethane alloy (no latex) and the topper foam is synthetic latex - no natural latex in this foam.
Comments:
Q:what is the weight limit on these beds? i currently have an adjustible bed, but the matterese sags about 3 inchs, do your products sag?
A:The weight limit for each air chamber is 500 pounds. Our beds contour to the natural shape of your body for even support but they do not sag. Spring and foam beds wear out and sag over time .... air support always contours to your body shape -- never sagging because it does not compress or wear down like the traditional beds.
Comments:
Q:Are the zip top mattress covers replaceable?
A:Hi Marelen, Yes, all of our mattresses are zippered designed for interchangeable components. At any time, you will be able to unzip the quilted cover off, which can be dry-cleaned, and get to any part of the mattress- whether it is to replace the topper foam, quilted cover, etc.
Comments:
Q:frequent raising and lowering of the adjustable bed frames will not "weaken" the air chambers in any of the mattresses?
A:No, it will not weaken the air chambers. Our air mattresses are designed to be a perfect marriage with adjustable bases.
Comments:
Q:What mattresses do you suggest for a S cape split king adjustable bed?
A:All of our mattresses will function properly with the S-cape adjustable base. The only mattress not advised with that base is our Alure if you want the SPLIT TOP version rather than the split king.
Comments:
Q:I AM LOOKING FOR SHORT KING SHEETS FOR MY RV BED. DO YOU STILL CARRY THEM?

Q:DO YOU OFFER A SPLIT CAL. KING WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES??
A:We offer the SPLIT CAL KING design in all of our mattress designs. It is a special order product but we can make it for any mattress. The mattress that has all the bells and whistles would be the Platinum, and yes it is available in that bed.
Comments:
Q:1) what happens if the power goes out? 2) will i feel a hump or bump in middle of king bed if we cuddle in the middle
A:If the power goes out, the pump will not release the air. It will stay inflated at the pressure it was before the power went out. We do not have any rigid divider in the center of our beds. Our air chambers butt up against each other.
Comments:
Q:we have been looking at the beds but on the commercials eveybody is on their backs what about side sleepers?
A:Our mattresses work very well for side sleepers because the firmness is adjustable. Typically, side sleepers need a softer setting - which is easily achievable.
Comments:
Q:what size are the shipping boxes for a King size foundation and mattress
A:Mattress boxes are 43x19x24. King size has 2 twin long foundations and those boxes are 47x40x6 (2 of them for a king)
Comments:
Q:Can I use my Optima mattress on a frame without a foundation? This frame is intended for overweight people and to be used without a foundation.
A: You can use the Optima mattress on your frame as long as it has a flat, level surface. Based on the fact that it is intended for overweight people, I suspect that it is very supportive and will work fine with just the mattress. The thing to make sure of is that there are no cracks or gaps that the mattress could poke through underneath the mattress. Some people actually place plywood over their slats in the bed frame --- and that works fine too.

Q:What is the difference between Oultast cover and Bamboo? I have low back/hip pain from arthritis, bulging dis, and degeneration. What models would you recommend? We purchased 4 mattresses in the last three years that have been very uncomfortable incluidng temperpedic and latex. We now have an inexpensive spring firm that is sagging after 60 days and is causing me pain. My husband is gunshy about buying another mistake! Can you make a recommendation? Thank you.
A:The cover with Outlast technology has temperature balancing properties. The cover with Bamboo is a natural made product and it has inherent cooling properties along with anti-bacterial properties. A representative can help you with selecting the best bed for you and with our 60 day in home trial, you needn't worry about being gunshy for your purchase.
Comments:
Q:Is there a way to turn off the back light on the Whisperair control? They are vey bright.
A:Unfortunately, the back light can't be turned off. You can place it under the bed and place a cloth over it to hide the light.
Comments:
Q:what is the height of the foldable foundation?
A:The foldable foundation is 9" high.
Comments:
Q:Can a dog jump on the bed without hurting the matress? Can you use a heated matress pad without hurting the maress?
A:Yes, it is ok for a dog to jump on the bed and it will not harm the mattress. It will not hurt to use a heated mattress pad but we do not recommend it. You will likely find it is not necessary as the mattress can be somewhat warmer than a traditional mattress.

Q:I tend to sleep hot with a high body temperature. If I do decide to get rid of my softside waterbed which bed would be the best choice for me?
A:The Bella or the Luxor(substituted with qualatex topper) would be the best choices for a cooler sleeping bed. If you have other problems that you are trying to address, there could be a different bed suggested. We need a complete picture of your sleep needs and desires to make the best suggestions.

Q:I have a softside waterbed. I want to replace the bladder with an airbed insert. Do you sell just an insert?
A:We carry a waterbed replacement mattress but it is a complete mattress, not just the bladder insert.
Comments:
Q:i have read that sleep # beds have mold/mildew problems. Do your mattresses use fabrics that protect the consumer from that issue?
A:Mold/mildew need heat and moisture to grow. We have fabrics that help balance body temperature, some that wick moisture away from your body as well. If you live in a very high humidity area and are concerned about mold/mildew in your bed, we recommend our Exclusive series beds that have air chambers made from a urethane alloy which is highly resistant to mold/mildew.
Comments:
Q:What is the difference between the "Standard Remote" and the "Digital Remote"
A:Standard remote (on the Comfort model only) has a lighted hand control, easy to find in the dark. It has "full" button and "+" and "-" for soft or firm settings. It does not have the digital readout. The digital remote has all the above but it also displays the pressure setting, example 63%.
Comments:
Q:My husband & I would like two xl but we also like to cuddle. Will we sink or fall between the cracks
A:No, you should not fall between the cracks. I recommend the exclusive series when purchasing 2 txl. This design gives you edge-to-edge air which is more comfortable with 2 txl mattresses. The beds without edge-to-edge air have a foam border around the perimeter that is not as comfortable for snuggling.
Comments:
Q:how quiet are your pumps
A:Our pumps are about the sound of a hair dryer on low setting. The pumps will not activate on their own - they only turn on when you press the inflate button, thus you should not be affected by noise whilst you sleep.
Comments:
Q:Is the air chamber in the queen sona bed single or dual
A:It is standard as a dual chamber but a single chamber is available - same price either way. Single is only better if you normally sleep alone in the bed.
Comments:
Q:Is the Digital Remote (WF 4200) wireless?

Q:Can these beds be used on platform frames without the base foundation?
A:Yes, any surface that is flat and supportive will work fine with the mattress.

Q:Is the king comfortair one mattress of two twins? Thanks.
A:A king mattress is 76x80 and it has 2 air chambers inside the bed which give each person individual control of their firmness. Some customers purchase 2 twin xl mattresses that make up a king size but this design is used with adjustable bases.
Comments:
Q:Can you use the adjustable base with the platinum king size mattress.
A:Yes, the Platinum mattress can be used with our adjustable base.

Q:- Which models allow for individual head raising/lowering? - Are the remotes wireless? - Which models are mold resistent?
A:All of our air mattresses can be used with adjustable bases for head raising and lowering. All our air mattress remotes are wired, however the remotes for raising/lowering the bases are wireless. The exclusive series beds are the most mold resistent of all the mattresses.

Q:Reading your "try" section I couldnt help but notice that the return policy was for matress only and that the foundation is not returnable. Is the foundation free with the purchase of a matress since if I pay separately for a foundation and then retun the matress, I am out the money for a foundation that I would have no use for...
A:Foundations are priced separately from the mattress. However, with our mattress you can use your existing foundation, place plywood over top of your foundations if they are older, try the mattress on the floor, or you can buy the foundation elsewhere. The warranty nor the trial period are contingent upon purchasing our foundation. Many people purchase the foundation AFTER the trial on the mattress.

Q:where is your factory located
A:We are located in Greenville, South Carolina.

Q:Is the wooden frame required for the base to sit on? What is the folding base material ? plastic? wood ? Also do you have a queen mattress that has all of the comfort layers? geomat, intense layer, latex topper foam, omalon, TPU aircore, and sensus memory foam ? I now own a select comfort and I am looking to purchase a second air mattress.
A:Our mattress will sit in any standard bed frame - simply move your old bed and place ours in the same frame. The folding base is made predominantly of metal with some wood - very sturdy design with lifetime warranty on it. The geomat and sensus memory foam are no longer available. The PLATINUM mattress is reversible and features memory foam on one side and latex foam on the other side. This mattress also has the omalon base foam and the TPU air cores that you asked about.

Q:Do you still sell the dreamaire mattresses and if so where can I find them on the website
A:The Dreamaire mattresses are not available at our factory direct internet sales site. These are an older series that is being phased out in favor of our newer models anyway.

Q:Is it true that the air goes down in the middle of the night before you wake up?
A:No, this is not true. The bed should never lose air. The only time it should go down is when you press the deflate button.
Comments:
Q:Have you had any problems with mold in your mattresses?
A:This is a very rare occurence for us. For individuals who are concerned about this, we have our exclusive series that carries a different air chamber made from urethane alloy which is highly resistant to mold.

Q:me and my partner have ongoing back problems and are confused about what type of bed to select. we are looking at temperpedic and /or a firm mattress bc we were told to get firm however the mattress man said to get a plush according to his research. help...
A: It really depends on the nature of your back problems. For example, if you have spinal problems, maybe have surgeries on your back, an air mattress with a firmer surface may make it easier to roll over or change position in bed. Temperpedic, which is a memory foam, is a slow recovering foam -- it molds to your body, almost creating a "hole" for you to sleep in ... this makes it more difficult to roll or change positions in bed and may put undue strain on your back. I would suggest an air mattress with a synthetic latex foam topper - the Opulence or Bella are both great suggestions. If your "ongoing" problems are mostly backaches, you may be served well with any air mattress. Air support gives you proper spinal alignment as it will follow the curvature of your body and support you evenly from head to toe. Please feel free to call a representative to further discuss your individual situation.

Q:My Comfort Air bed is only 2yrs. old & it is sagging. No matter how much air I put in it, it sags. What is the solution to this problem?
A:First look at the foundation that supports the mattress. Older boxsprings will sag and allow the mattress to follow the same contour of the sagging area. Customer service can also provide more things to look at in order to resolve this problem.

Q:/which beds can be used with an adjustable bed?
A:All of our air mattresses can be used with adjustable bases.
Comments:
Q:We are thinking about buying the prodigy adjustable base later, do we need to buy the foundation?
A:The adjustable base takes the place of the foundation. If you are not buying the base right now, you will need something to put the mattress on. If you have an existing boxspring, you could use that temporarily.

Q:I have a severe allergy to latex. What is the level of exposure with this product, and do you have models that have LESS Latex, they would likely be safer for my situation.
A:I would recommend the Luxor or Alure mattress. These have ZERO latex in them. The air chambers in these models are made from a plastic-urethane blend, not latex. There is no latex foam in these either. Our beds from Comfort through Elegance have a latex chamber with cotton backing and would not be recommended for your situation.

Q:I have pain in my left hip when I sleep. Do you believe the Optima bed would be a good choice to help reduce pressure points? Also, can the foam the bed comes with be replaced with other types of foam (convoluted with latex) in the future if desired? Brian
A:Yes, the Optima may be a good choice to help reduce pressure points in your hip. Air adjustability gives you the ability to alleviate the pressure on your hip. I would also recommend the Premier bed -- the memory foam topper in this bed may also further help with the hip pain. Yes, the foam topper can be changed to other foams - some charges may apply.
Comments:
Q:What kind of material is the air chamber made of?
A:Starting at Comfort and going through Elegance, our air chambers are made from vulcanized rubber with a cotton backing. The advanced series, Bella through Platinum, have air chambers made from a plastic urethane blend that is similar to what is used in hospital air beds.

Q:Hi, i am curious to see which bed you think would help my back problems. I have 2 bulging discs and a broken tail bone along with severe nerve damage in my back. I am trying to find a hard firm mattress so buy seeing that my current one is a pillow top and helping with my pain in my back. Can you please reference a firm mattress that i can look into on this website? I hope you can help with my question. hope to hear from you, Alia Hempel
A:If you want a firm mattress with the best support, the Bella is the best for that. The base support foam under the air and the qualatex foam on top of the air will give the best firm feel ... and you still have the air adjustability to contour to the natural shape of your body and provide proper spinal alignment.
Comments:
Q:do I need a frame and foundation with one of your beds or can I use my existing bed frame and box spring?
A:You can use your existing frame and boxspring with our mattress. If your boxsprings are more than 5 yrs old, you should consider buying new or placing plywood over the top of them to ensure a solid flat surface for the mattress.
Comments:
Q:Are your beds rated for heavy people and if so for how much
A:Our air chambers are rated for 500 pounds. If you have a dual air chamber bed, each air chamber is rated to hold 500 pounds.

Q:Do you have a mattress that fits inside a queen waterbed frame?
A:Yes. Our Waterbed Replacement mattress is available in Queen XL which measures 60x84. This is the size that fits in the older style waterbed frames.
Comments:
Q:My mattress is cold at night. How can I stop this?
A:If you feel coolness from the mattress, I recommend placing a layer of foam on top of your mattress (under the sheet and protector). This will make the bed feel a little cushier but it will also separate you from the cool air chambers AND the foam layer will hold some heat. You can check with us about purchasing a foam layer or look for something in a local store. The warmest type of foam layer would be made from memory foam - it holds the most heat of all the foams. When summertime comes around, you may want to remove the foam layer to get a cooler mattress again.
Comments:
Q:Can I use an electric mattress pad with your products?
A:Comfortaire does not recommend the use of electric blankets or pads with the mattress. In extreme cases, these could damage components of your mattress.

Q:What is Q-Latex™ foam? Is it an all natural product?
A:This foam is a synthetic latex product. It is manufactured with the best features of latex and the best use in our mattress. Much like synthetic oil is made to work better in your car than oil because it is made with the end-use in mind.

Q:Easist way to check foran air leak in matress chanber .
A:The easiest way is to disconnect the hose from the pump, plug the end of the hose. Sleep on it while it is NOT connected to the pump. If it goes down, the air chamber is leaking and needs to be replaced.

Q:What is the difference between a "single chamber" and a "double chamber" bed?
A:Single air chamber means one air chamber in the bed - best if you sleep alone. Dual air chamber means 2, one for each side of the bed - husband has air chamber and wife has her air chamber giving each person individual control of the firmness.
Comments:
Q:I want to replace my current Comfortaire. I believe it is a Cerulean. What is the difference between the Premier and the Imperial and which is comparable?
A:The closest to Cerulean would be the Sona. If you have a memory foam topper upgrade in your Cerulean, the Premier would be closer to it. The difference in Premier and Imperial is the position of the memory foam layer: Premier has memory foam under the Coolmax quilted cover, the Imperial has a thin cover (not quilted) with the memory foam very close to your body.
Comments:
Q:I have severe allergies to Latex products. Do all of these mattresses contain latex that I could be allergic to?
A:The Bella, Luxor, and Alure mattresses do not have latex in them. The air chambers in these is a urethane blend material - not the latex/cotton air chambers on the original technology beds.

Q:I have been sleeping on my friends Comfortaire bed and can not figure out how to reset the Comfortaire Whisperflo Comfort Control and how the percentages work. I checked this site to see if there were instructions on how to operate the control and have not found anything. Can you help me out?
A:1. How to operate the WF pump with the digital hand controls. a. STAND BESIDE BED, PRESS FULL. While standing beside the bed, press the “full” button. Allow the pump to run until it shuts off. Repeat process on other side of the bed. The bed is now fully inflated. b. LIE DOWN ON BED, ADJUST PRESSURE. Lie down on the bed in your normal sleeping position. Press and hold the deflate button until you feel comfortable in the bed. You should hold the deflate button for 4 seconds (or longer) each time. Tapping the button quickly may give you an inaccurate reading because the pump cannot engage quickly enough to read the pressure. If you feel that the bed is too soft and would like to increase the pressure, press and hold the inflate button for 5 seconds (or longer) to increase the pressure. When pressing the inflate button some air is lost before the fan activates (we don’t want the fan to blow the valve shut) – thus it is necessary to hold the inflate button slightly longer to achieve a higher pressure setting. c. USE MEMORY FEATURE. Now you are at a comfortable setting. Press and hold the “memory” button until it beeps. You have now saved that setting in memory. As you adjust the pressure to different settings, you can return to the favorite setting by pressing and releasing the “memory” button – don’t hold it until it beeps or you will save a new setting instead of returning to the old setting. d. TRY IT SEVERAL DAYS. We recommend using the same setting for several days (or longer) to allow your body to adjust to the new sleep setting. Hint: changing the setting too often never allows the body to fully adjust to sleeping on air because it simulates getting in a different bed each time. Too many changes can make it difficult to ascertain which setting is best for your body. e. MEMORY AND FULL, DETAILS. The “memory” and “full” buttons are on a timer cycle. For example: if your bed is fully inflated and you press the “full” button, the pump will activate and run for about 3 minutes. Although it is running, it will expel the air instead of putting it in the air chamber. The FULL and MEMORY are programmed to activate the pump when the button is pressed thus alerting you that the pump/features are in good working order. EVERY TIME YOU PRESS FULL OR MEMORY, THE PUMP WILL ACTIVATE AND RUN. This does not mean that the bed has lost air. f. “HOW TO” FOR PRESSURE CHANGES. You should ALWAYS be lying on the bed when changing the pressure up or down or activating the memory feature. The only time you should be OFF the bed is when you activate the FULL button. The pump reads back-pressure; your body weight creates back pressure triggering the pump to shut off before the air chamber is full. g. DO NOT TAP THE BUTTONS QUICKLY. Worth mentioning again, DO NOT LIGHTLY TAP THE INFLATE OR DEFLATE BUTTON in order to “check” the pressure. The resulting readings will be inaccurate because the pump can’t activate and read the pressure that quickly.

Q:I have a severe lower back injury and just cant seem to find a bed that works or doesnt sag after a few months. I cannot remember the last good sleep I had. How can I be sure this is the one that will end all my sleeping problems? With an online purchase I worry!
A:Hi Andrew, With the true risk free trial that we offer at Comfortaire Direct, you will have the ability to try out the mattress at no charge to you. We offer a 60-day in home trial period, which would begin the day that you receive your mattress. We do ask that you keep it a minimum of 30 days, but after the 30 days, as long as it is within the 60, if you were not to be happy with it, then you can return it for a full refund, and right now for a limited time, we are paying the return shipping costs. Also, keep in mind that with an air technology bed, air does not break down- it is not going to compress like a regular, conventional mattress would.
Comments:
Q:How is the advanced technology different from the original air technology?
A:Our advanced technology has edge-to-edge air chambers across the entire surface of the mattress with a base support foam located underneath the air chambers. The base support foam supports your body weight allowing the air chambers to serve only one function - proper posturization. The original technology air chambers are located in the center of the bed, with a firm edge around the perimeter. The original technology beds have a deeper air chamber that serves as support AND posturization.
